MON VOYAGE

A young 34 years old linguist decides to leave his beloved Paris and move back to his homeland, Greece. On the way back he thinks of his grandmother who raised him, his brother, and his first love. Above all, however, he thinks of his profound home: language. He dreams of a common demotic language that will unite his compatriots without dividing them. In Mon Voyage, Zafiris Nikitas makes use of Yannis Psycharis's famous book, My Journey, in an interactive lecture about having the courage of advancement. At the same time, in the framework of the Biennale's theme "Imagined Homes", the lecture examines our need to live in two "homes": the dead and the living language, memory and oblivion.
