IMAGINED HOMES – ANTIQUE AND CONCRETE

With this title the two artists Paul Schwer and Evangelos Papadopoulos will originate an installation in the Goethe-Institut in Thessaloniki, by using mostly building materials to create a reflection of urban space.

In this encounter with Thessaloniki, we would like to invite visitors to participate in the exhibition by bringing a short mobile phone video of their “favourite place” in Thessaloniki. This video should be no more than one minute long. By “favourite place” one thinks of a place he/she can call home. It is a place one feels most comfortable in. This place can be a public, private or mental place.

On 2 October, the videos will be edited to expand into one long video. The duration of the expanded video will be determined by the number of entries. This video sequence will be integrated into a performance during the exhibition. The pictures, from the video sequence, as well as the change in colour and brightness will alter the original installation.

With this dialogue/experiment, we will create a common place, a common home.

The videos can be handed in to the Goethe-Institut during its normal opening hours.

It would be very helpful if the video from the mobile phone could be handed in a USB stick!
