THE PROS ΑΝD CONS OF HITCH-HIKING
For the 6th Thessaloniki Biennale of Contemporary Art, we adapt Homer’s work Odyssey and incorporate it to the current context by presenting contemporary artworks. Odysseus’ epic is the guiding thread of this exhibition, not only because the artworks talk about it but also because, thanks to a narrative mise en abyme, each artwork embodies a chapter of the story. “Imagined Homes”, is the house which Odysseus dreams of, the one he has been forced to leave and labored to find it again. The distance imposed between him and his homeland is “translated” to today’s the distance between migrants and their homeland. This topic is developed by different artists who have a different point of view, depending on their position; of the spectator or the victim.
